World cup cricket 2011
World cup cricket is the greatest occasion of every cricket lover’s life. It comes after every four years and the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup was the tenth cricket world cup. It was played in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. It was Bangladesh`s first time to co hosting a world cup. The world cup was supposed to be co hosted by Pakistan, but in the wake of the 2009 attack on the Sri Lanka National Cricket team in Lahore, the International Cricket Council (ICC) decided to strip Pakistan of its hosting rights. On February 18, 2011, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the opening ceremony in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Bangladesh hosted eight world matches while India hosted twenty nine and Sri Lanka twelve. Bangladesh played six matches in group B. by this time they won three matches and were defeated also in three matches. The biggest upset of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 was the defeat of England by Island. There were some systems which were for the first time introduced in the world cup like umpire direction review system (UDRS) and twenty overs power play. The World Cup final was held in Mumbai between India and Sri Lanka on 2april, 2011. The tournament was won by India who defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the final. India become the first nation to win a world cup on home. Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the adjudged the man of the match for his brilliant score of unbeaten 91 in the final and Yuvraj Singh was declared the man of the tournament. In spite of some detached incident, the world cup will be counted as a successful one
